Vroom, vroom: RV company to hire 400

In another stirring of life in the RV industry, a producer of towable RVs in Elkhart announced that it will hire 400 more workers to step up production, The Elkhart Truth reported on Wednesday.
Heartland Recreational Vehicle LLC has new demand, which dealers say is at least in part because of incentives the factory is offering them right now.
In the company's announcement on Tuesday, which follows similar moves by local producers Jayco and Thor Industries, Heartland says it will hire 200 workers now, and 200 more in the first quarter of 2010, bringing the company's total workforce to 1,200.
Unemployment in Elkhart County, which peaked at 18.9 percent in March, crept down to 15 percent in September.

That's great that they think they will do so well at the Louisville show. But maybe they should have waited to make the announcement AFTER they knew they did well. To get hopes up like this could be very dangerous. What happens when they hire all of these people on a hope and a prayer and then don't do well. I mean people still have to want to buy RV's. And the last I heard we are still in a recession. I wish we could stop focusing on the RV industry and bring in some new business, new jobs and some new hope.

Actually, you are wrong because many of the leading economists believe we are out of the recession. I have seen evidence that we are too. People are starting to spend money, including me!
