High-speed rail line for Elkhart?

The Indiana Department of Transportation is seeking $49 million in federal stimulus money to carry out environmental and engineering studies on a proposed high-speed rail corridor from Chicago to Cleveland across northern Indiana. But i's not certain the final path of the train would include Elkhart County, assuming funds are granted and the rail plans ultimately materialize.

"Building out the entire Chicago Hub Network, which has proposed corridors stretching into Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Michigan, would cost $7.7 billion."

Are you sure only $7.7 Billion? A year of war in Iraq at $100B. Does that mean we could have a high speed rail in 9 states for 1/13 the cost of a year in Iraq?

Plan a stop at Ft. Wayne and near US 31, then on to Chicago. Start tomorrow
