How great, we as Americans need to be pulling together to help out in these times. More businesses as well as individuals need to take a look at this and see how they can make a difference to their community during these tough times.

Bimbo bakery chain gave away 9,000 bags of bread and other baked goods to folks who need help making ends meet.

It's really nice to read about good people with good stories in this time of a lot of people needing help these days.

What a great idea, not only did it help feed some who really needed it, they also had booths set up as part of the event by area agencies to help the unemployed with career counseling an resume building help.

Great Job

Elkhart is full of good people. It's part of our identity. The recession has hit all of us, even those of with who still have employment because an awful lot of us know that our job might be the next job to go. I'm planning ahead accordingly, cutting back on purchases and thinking small again so I can put some money in the bank. I know spending is the thing to do right now, but I don't make enough money to spend and save at the same time. Next year will be harder for me personally because I know my health insurance premium and co-pay will go way up next year, and my 1999 car will be another year older. Heck, I'll be another year older and I'm approaching retirement. I need at least five more years on my job. My employer isn't going anywhere (school corporation) but my job could be cut. Being good to each other is to everyone's benefit.

I wish the people of Elkhart good luck. Maybe one day Obama, Reid and Pelosi will get around to helping those that need help the most and not use tax dollars to go into the Car business or banking business. But AGI came first, after all Pelosi has connections to AGI and not the people of Elkhart.

As an employee of NFI Logistics, I am proud that my company was able to take part in this event. We donated the trucks and our drivers and management staff donated their time to assist BBU in making this happen. One of the key values of our company is social responsibility. As an employee of NFI, I am proud of our company and of the people I work with. I am also proud that we have had the opportunity to partner with a company like Bimbo Baking USA. It is obvious that BBU shares in our concern about the communities in which we live and work. In tough economic times it becomes vital that we all pull together and care about our neighbors.

I found this article while surfing the web while on vacation, I too work for BBU in another state and was surprised to see this. The sharing or breaking of bread there diveristy of work force. One would have to know 10 or 15 languages to speak to everyone in there on tongue in my plant alone. It sounds to me this is what made America great to start with. Good work people of Elkhart, and we will try to do our best here in Maryland.

"People don't need resume tweaking for nonexistent jobs" is an ignorant things to say. Some of the people who lost jobs were management and executive, and those people may find jobs elsewhere in Elkhart or Elkhart County or neighboring St. Joe County who is surviving the recession better than Elkhart County. Some of these people will relocate elsewhere altogether. All of the employees have skills to offer elsewhere too. Elkhart's unemployment is running "about" 18%, but many of our business are alive and well and will continue to hire as people leave for personal reasons or retirement. Everyone won't get jobs in the near future but some will and the rest need encouragement and help to be ready when the time comes.

Help in these times from anyone or anybody is welcome for all in this situation. From the government expect nothing. Our tax dollars go to higher callings (to bigs to fail) Let us hope they do fail along with the socialists handing out our dollars that are blind.
